The 2008 Annual General Meeting

The AGM was held at Fareham Leisure Centre on Monday 2nd June 2008. The major decisions that were taken at the meeting were:

Subscriptions and match fees will be the same in 2008-09 as they were in 2007-08: that is, subscriptions (per annum) of £25 for senior and £10 for Colts teams, and match fees (per match) of £27 for senior and £18 for Colts teams.

The fine for non-attendance at the AGM was increased from £5 to £20, and the rule stating that a club which misses three consecutive AGMs may be expelled from the League was changed to say that the club will be expelled from the League.

The arrangements for completion and return of Records Update forms prior to the start of each season were changed:

  • The deadline for return is now 1st July.
  • A sliding scale of fines applies for forms received late. If the form is received between 2nd and 8th July inclusive, the fine is £5; between 9th and 15th July inclusive £10; between 16th and 22nd July inclusive £15; and between 23rd and 31st July inclusive £20.
  • Any club which has not returned its form by the end of July will be deemed to have withdrawn from the League.
  • If a form is incomplete, a charge of £5 will be made for each enquiry which is required to establish the complete information.

A proposal was made to increase the number of senior teams in the League from 40 to 45 (in 5 divisions of 9 teams instead of 4 divisions of 10) with effect from the 2009-10 season. This would have necessitated changes to the arrangements for promotion and relegation in 2008-09, to achieve the required redistribution of teams. However, this proposal failed to obtain the required majority, and was therefore not approved.

New rules to safeguard Colts players playing in senior matches were adopted:

  • Under-13 players (that is, players who are eligible to play in the Under-13 league) are not permitted to play in senior matches.
  • Under-16 players (that is, players who are eligible to play in the Under-16 league but not in the Under-13 league) may only play in senior matches with written consent from a parent or guardian. A form on which this consent may be given is available on the Resources page.
  • Under-16 players must wear a helmet at all times when fielding in the half of the court (as defined by the 'no-ball' line) closest to the bat.

An addition to the playing rules was approved, to clarify that the protective metal strip at the bottom of the wall counts as part of the wall for all scoring purposes.

Membership of the Committee:

  • Ray McIntyre has resigned as President. Barry Boorah was elected in his place.
  • All other existing members of the Committee were confirmed in office for another year.
  • Jon Edwards from Curdridge CC was elected to join the Committee.
